MAYONNAISE FOR DRY HAIR!!!

I applied mayo to my hair, sat under the dryer 15-10-10 minute intervals applying more mayonnaise between the intervals. I rinsed out in the shower and did an apple cider vinegar rinse to wash away the smell and residue of the Mayonnaise. As you can see, I’m really getting into kitchen cosmetics. But if it works… it works!!!

HOT OIL TREAMENTS ARE WHACK!!!

Hot Oil Treatments do not work for me. They leave my hair feeling dry and brittle. I’ve been trying them for about 4 months, but they just don’t work for me. I probably will never do a hot oil treatment on my hair EVER AGAIN. Most oils if they are not essential oils do not have the ability to penetrate into the hair shaft. Most oils lay on top of the cuticle, and coat the cuticle. This may give the hair some shine but, it will also coat the hair and cause product build up. I’ve found that best way to use oils is in conjunction with a cream conditioner or added after a leave-in conditioner to seal. MOISTURIZING SPRITZ

I carry this around in my purse. I need to keep my hair moisturized at all times. This works great. I fill a small spray bottle ¼ Salerm and ¾ filtered watered. I spray it whenever I feel my hair getting dry and it’s good for days at the beach or when I know I’m going to be outside a lot. I would like to add essential oils like rosemary and peppermint and maybe experiment with rosemary tea.

STEAM TOWEL WRAP

For deep conditioning, I love STEAM TOWEL WRAPS. I use whatever oils and conditioners I want to use and then I apply a plastic cap or saran wrap (I would never use a towel directly on my hair). I then apply a hot towel and then another plastic cap. I leave it on for 15 minutes and then if I feel like it, I re-heat the towel or I may even sit under the dryer. It’s a bad idea to use plastic caps with the elastic bands because they can break off your edges, but I do it anyway because I’m BAD. Actually I roll the edges of the elastic up as you can see from the photos. If not you can look for my “Baggy Method” post.

Transitioning Without The "Big Chop"

I am transitioning to natural without cutting my relaxed hair. Man hair stylists have told me this couldn’t be done and that would my hair would break off. Part of my reason for making this blog is to disprove the hair stylists myths and to show women that they don’t have to cut their hair off in order to transition to their natural texture. The line of demarcation/difference where natural hair and relaxed hair meets is the most fragile part of your hair during transition. It is important to concentrate on this area for moisturizing and protein treatments. I deep condition with heat at least twice I week. Once with Silicon Mix and then again with MissKey10en1. I also use the baggy method EVERY NIGHT. I haven’t noticed any breakage or excessive shedding as of yet and it’s been 5 months. I’ll keep adding to this post as I learn more.

VO5 Strawberries & Cream

Dear VO5 Strawberries & Cream, I don’t like you. You smell too sweet and I’m just not into that. I know you only cost like $1 but I wish I would have bought a pack of Grape Bubblicious instead. I thought that because I love pink and I love strawberries and cream, that we would make beautiful hair together. But, I just don’t like you like that. FILE THIS UNDER: PRODUCTS I WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN. =oP

SECTIONING METHOD

Another reason I like to use my applicator brush is because I do everything in sections. It’s easier to detangle my hair this way and also I’m ensuring that I reach every inch of my head when using this method to apply product. I use it for everything. When I get ready for bed I part my hair in these four sections and apply moisturizer, I use the baggy method to baggy my entire head and then in the morning I co-wash in sections and then detangle in sections.

I apply my deep conditioner with an applicator brush. A lot of people ask me why. I do it because it’s less messy than using my hands and it’s easier to apply product to the line of demarcation. Also, I can make sure I reach every inch of my head because I use the rattail end of the brush to make even smaller sections during application. I use this method for everything: honey deep conditioners, henna, oils, whatever. It may seem strange, but it’s my personal preference and it has worked very well for me and my new growth. ;o)

FLAX SEED OIL SHOOTER

Flax Seed Oil contains omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, protein, and zinc and also provides approximately 50% more omega-3 oils than what you could get from taking fish oil, minus that horrible “fishy” after taste. Flax seed oils aids the growth of healthy hair and nails and promotes healthy skin.This is how I take my Flax Seed Oil. I use 2 tablespoons of organic lemon flavored Flax Seed Oil and Orange Juice filled to the brim of a shot glass. It is the only way I can take FSO without gagging. You should try it. Oh don’t forget to stir it up before you take the shot. Whatever, it’s fun. I like it.

HONEY FOR HAIR

If you’re a guest in my home, you may realize that my shower looks more like a kitchen cabinet. One of the edible products I use in my hair regimen is honey. The potassium in honey makes it a humectant so it attracts and retains moisture, which is awesome for dry hair. I use Mel-O’s no mess because it’s not all sticky and gross. It’s also super cheap and 100% pure honey… you want to make sure it doesn’t have any added sugars.

FOR DEEP CONDITIONING:
I mix 1 cup honey, 6 tablespoons of olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of my favorite conditioner. Part hair in 4 section and apply with applicator brush from roots to tip. Next, I put on plastic shower cap and wrap with a warm towel. I use this towel turban thing it’s really cool. I leave it in for at least 15 minutes and then I just rinse it out and go.

AFTER WASHING:
I mix 1 teaspoon of honey & 1 quart of water. I wash my hair as usual and use the honey mix as a final rinse. I do not rinse it out.
